As the days melt together

Holly wasn't exactly happy that Carrie got on at the nail salon. After all, she had big dreams for her. A lot bigger dreams than Carrie evidently had. Of course, Holly could never give Carrie the specifics. Something about her being a personal stylist for someone famous, maybe.

"Well, you don't even let me help you with what you wear," Carrie shrugged at the matter. She did her chores at Holly's place and then did chores at the salon. She was no more than a maid, for the most part.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Holly gave her a look that she was asking for too much now.

Carrie shrugged, a little more tired than usual. "Don't worry about it," she finally said and went off to make dinner in Holly's little galley kitchen.

Of course, it was a one pot wonder of a meal. Carrie could always make the most with a can of soup, leftover meat, some veg and elbow macaroni.

"I have a feeling you like it here," Holly said out of nowhere once she smelled dinner that was topped with grated cheese.

Carrie almost smiled as she set Holly's bowl out on the table.

"I have a feeling you like that I am here," Carrie said back and looked at her one bowl meal, as she sat across from Holly. Carrie then watched Holly dig in like a ravished cat.

"Are you skipping lunch again?" She asked with a tilt of the head.

"And breakfast too," Holly nodded. She was about done when she came up for air. "Girl, those snacks you make fill me up."

"Oh, so it's my fault." Carrie nodded and finally took a spoonful of cheesiness from the steamy bowl.

Holly nodded.

"Well, maybe I better move back home," Carrie told her she didn't think her brother was there very much.

"What?" Holly looked up at her alarmed then. "You've been back?"

"A few times. Doesn't look like much has been touched. The fridge is bare. I don't even know if he's sleeping there." Carrie said as she swelled a frown and was about to give up on taking another bite.

"Well, I should go with you. Don't go by yourself," Holly said. "What would you do? If you met face to face? Wouldn't it be awful to see Devon?"

Carrie only shrugged.

Holly sighed. She guessed Carrie was a whole tougher than she ever realized.

  3. Carrie is a whole lot tougher than Holly realized! Seeing her in this light, as Holly's caretaker as well as a glorified maid both on and off the clock, shows just how much she can handle. I have no doubt that she could be a celebrity stylist. But I think getting her foot in the door at the salon is a smart move for now. I hope that she and Holly make it -- and that nothing awful happens with her brother.

Beautiful yellow collage! I loved seeing my sunflowers, garland style, in the mix. 💛
