"I think he's gonna lose it," Holly found herself telling Carrie who was busy painting Holly's nails a bewitching dark blue. Of course, Carrie looked at her as if she didn't know what Stevie could possibly lose.
"How long have you known him?" Carrie was a new friend. Holly looked at her unsure she wanted to tell her anymore about Stevie.
"We go way back, beyond middle school, in fact." Holly shrugged as she watched Carrie with such precision. Just where did she get the patience. She sighed.
"He still looks like a middle schooler," Carrie smiled and said she wished he would dress up like a girl (she remembered seeing Stevie with Holly but of course, Holly had forgotten). "He'd be adorable. I'd let him raid my closet."
"Don't mention it to him," Holly closed her eyes at the thought. She knew she'd feel lost without him, but seriously she knew they didn't really need each other.
He hadn't done well at the college. At least she was at the University. She knew he'd still bring her down, one way or another. And yet she loved that little loser dude. She couldn't say if it were the bedroom eyes or that funny smile of his.
"I just thought, he'd always be with Tim, you know." Why did Stevie worry her so?
"Oh, those kind of things are nice fantasies, but we always evolve and we find new things to do," Carrie's braids bobbled as she finished up. She could be so innocent and cute and of course, she was always here for Holly even if Holly kept going out with all the wrong dudes. There was always Carrie to come back to.
"Will you go out tonight?" Carrie asked, thinking they might should eat. She said she could make them sandwiches.
Holly sighed as she stared at her newly fresh nails all shiny and threatening. It would be a waste not to go out. But she sighed once more. "I'm not really up for it." She said sleepily.
"Good, we can watch GILMORE GIRLS." Carrie smiled back.
Loved the chapter, Gilmore Girls always comfort when we don't want to think about something

ReplyDeleteI invite you to visit my last post. Have a good week-end!
I loved learning more about Steve and Holly's friendship: "She knew he'd still bring her down, one way or another. And yet she loved that little loser dude." I think a lot of people can relate to that feeling! This is a cool line: "Holly sighed as she stared at her newly fresh nails all shiny and threatening." And, of course, I adore the collage. So much kawaii candy goodness!
ReplyDeleteGood call rescheduling the dentist, by the way; it's never good to sleep walk into any situation where there are sharp tools.
Great post 😊
ReplyDeleteHi Hi!
ReplyDeleteVery good text as always, all that time doing her nails, the mentioned color is one of my favorites, thanks for sharing it :D
I loved Holly's behaviour! She takes care of herself (such as nail care). I think Holly and Steve friendship go well.
ReplyDeleteLoved this story. So well-written with engaging and likable characters that pulled me in from the beginning.
