Living in a daydream

What did Holly want to hear? Was she just at the salon wanting a discount for her nails? Oh, Carrie did her best to put her to ease as she went to work getting Holly's nails new glam polish. It seemed kind of funny that Holly trusted her with her nails, but not anything else. Of course, she kept straight-lipped and did her best not to give way to a giggle.

Oh, the salon was in sparkly form. However, it didn't bring in a crowd just yet. No, they would wait until the day before the big event to show up, and it would be crowded. Carrie knew how it was. And Liam (sometimes Tobes) was working just as diligently as she was.

"What do you even see in him?" Holly snarled as she got past the Stevie news of his dad landing in the hospital with COVID. He was on a ventilator now.

"Who?" Carrie looked up not sure what she was getting at.

"You know who," she hissed. It seemed she was losing steam about that new beau of hers. Somehow, anything hot chocolate made him smile, and so did cozy scarves and layers of winter clothes. While all along Holly wanted to whisk him off to Vegas, but he'd have none of it.

Holly looked over at Liam who was doing business with some old lady they both knew if they were nice enough would shell out three hundred bucks with no problem. Of course, one might have to spend the next three hours with her.

Carrie sighed. "He's my brother's friend."

"And you're with him!" Holly snapped.

"Holly, I live in my room. He's in my brother's room. We usually eat together and keep the house clean. That's what we do." Carrie practically rolled her eyes at her. She was just thankful she didn't have rent hanging over her head. It was bliss being in her little haven and Liam was so much better than her brother ever was. He left her alone. And when they did talk it was about work or how was she doing. They were nice to each other. Which she couldn't say about Holly.

"What are you going to do for Christmas?" Holly asked next.

"We were thinking of inviting everybody over." Carrie looked at her blankly.

"Everybody?"

"Yes, even you." She was straight-lipped then. Holly could take it or leave it. At this point, Carie would rather have Holly's new boyfriend there instead of Holly, but that would never happen.

  1. Oh wow Carri is not really having any of Holly's nonsense. Sorry t hear the dad is on a ventilator! Yikes I was wondering what has happened w/ that situation. A lot of people have moved in from Covid but there are still bad outcomes. Nice to see that reflected in your story even though I hope he makes it.

  3. Way to stand up to Holly, Carrie! That was a long time in coming. Also, Holly's infatuation with her new wholesome man seems as short-lived as I expected it'd be. It's a bumpy road for Holly ahead . . .

I love all the festive looks in the collage! 💚🖤💖🎄
